For a TNO research study about the influence of piling-noise on marine mammals and fish a large dataset containing underwater noise was recorded during the piling phase of the construction of the Q7 windfarm offshore the Netherlands. Nesto R&D has developed the MatLab scripts to process all the data in such a way that all the individual blows of the piling rig where segmented and filtered out of the dataset and saved to a database. Next all parameters of influence on aquatic life could be derived from the individual blows. The database was used by researchers for a publication on underwater acoustics,’Underwater radiated noise due to the piling for the Q7 Offshore Wind Park’.
