Processing of acoustic piling dataErnst Stokvis2019-01-04T12:37:01+00:00
For a TNO research study about the influence of piling-noise on marine mammals and fish a large dataset containing underwater noise was recorded during the piling phase of the construction of the Q7 windfarm offshore the Netherlands. Hydrophones placed around the piling rigs where used to record the data.
Nesto R&D has developed the MatLab scripts to process all the data in such a way that all the individual blows of the piling rig where segmented and filtered out of the dataset and saved to a database. Next all parameters of influence on aquatic life could be derived from the individual blows. The database was used by researchers for a publication on underwater acoustics,’Underwater radiated noise due to the piling for the Q7 Offshore Wind Park’.
